Vita

Felix Kaspar Rosic (*1993) grew up on the outskirts of Hallertau near Munich. This rural environment shaped him, leading his greatest interests to lie in nature, agriculture, and rural populations. He is particularly interested in the tensions between old and new, especially in light of the challenges that climate change poses for agriculture and rural areas.

In the past, he worked as a media technician for premium events and video productions. Today, Felix is studying in the renowned program «Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography» at the Hochschule Hannover.

Most people appreciate the calm, simple, and approachable manner in which Felix interacts with them. This approach helps both him and the people he photographs to remain composed.

Code of Ethics

I am committed to creating work that portrays the intricacy of people's lives and avoids perpetuating harmful stereotypes. To achieve this, I treat individuals with respect and obtain informed consent by transparently explaining the purpose and context of my work to potential collaborators. The consent process remains ongoing, and participants have the autonomy to withdraw their consent at any point.

Mindful of the diverse communities I often work within, each with unique lived experiences, I refrain from assuming a representative voice. Instead, I prioritize listening and employ creative methods to amplify people's authentic voices, sometimes supporting them in capturing their own images. In all cases, I emphasize collaboration.

As a trained journalist, I recognize the significance of text in complementing and anchoring the meaning of images, especially when working with groups historically misrepresented. I work alongside participants to develop meaningful captions for the images.

In line with my ethical principles, my photography adheres to the following statements:

Dignity: I approach representation with care, educating myself about the contexts and subjects I photograph. My visual language is chosen thoughtfully to uphold the dignity of all individuals involved.

Respect: I champion the human rights of my subjects by obtaining their consent and engaging in open dialogues about where their images will be seen.

Responsibility: My aim is to create a positive impact through my photographs, reflecting on potential effects on both those pictured and broader society. I am mindful of the power of photography and use it responsibly.

Environmentalism: As an eco-conscious photojournalist, I prioritize sustainable practices, such as using eco-friendly equipment, digital distribution, recycling, and local sourcing. I actively offset my carbon footprint, promote awareness, and collaborate with environmental organizations, aiming for a positive impact through my work.

Accountability: I acknowledge that ethics is an ongoing learning process. When I make mistakes, I approach them with humility, leaving my ego aside, and responding with vulnerability.
